What is Red Light Therapy?
Red Light Therapy is technology that was originally founded by NASA. Researchers in NASA found that Red Light grew plants in space also known as photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT). "PBMT modulates a body’s organelles—structures within a cell (e.g., mitochondria, vacuoles, and chloroplasts) that store food, discharge waste, produce energy, or perform other functions analogous to the role of organs in the body as a whole—with wavelength-specific photon energy to increase respiratory metabolism, reduce the natural inflammatory response, accelerate recovery of injury or stress at the cellular level, and increase circulation." Research continued and in 2001 NASA found that in vitro LED Red Light increased cell growth by 140-200%. LED produced improvement of greater than 40% in musculoskeletal training injuries in Navy SEAL team members, and decreased wound healing time in crew members aboard a U.S. Naval submarine. LED produced a 47% reduction in pain of children suffering from oral mucositis.
In another study in 2011, NASA found LED Red Light reduces pain in cancer patients during chemotherapy and radiation. "Patients received the light therapy by a nurse holding the WARP 75 device -- about the size of an adult human hand – in close proximity to the outside of the patient's left and right cheek and neck area for 88 seconds each, daily for 14 days at the start of the patient's bone marrow or stem cell transplant. During that time, trained clinicians assessed the patient's mouth and patients completed a simple form to indicate their level of pain."

As you can see from the above extensive research by NASA, Red Light Therapy has been proven to be effective through many clinical studies. With the positive results seen through these studies, many other studies were conducted in Europe on the effects of Red Light therapy and skin rejuvenation. Once in tissues, light stimulates the body to create collagen, elastin, and other natural anti-aging molecules. In addition, red light appears to reduce inflammation and redness while causing mitochondria, the powerhouses of the cell, to enable faster skin turnover. This creates a new layer of healthy, youthful cells to replace aged and/or diseased ones.
Some of the benefits of Red Light Therapy are: increased circulation, reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, reduced age spots, improvement in skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, uneven skin tones, acne, melasma, improvement in joint pain, deep muscle pain management, formation of new capillaries, improved scars and decrease cellulite.
